The Kering group on Wednesday announced the appointment of a new Creative Director for its menswear brand Brioni.

The appointment was forthcoming and the man chosen is Justin O'Shea, who will take charge of Brioni's collections and brand image from 1st April 2016. Justin O'Shea previously worked for online sales website mytheresa.com, where he was fashion director.

The Brioni post has remained vacant for a few weeks, and now O'Shea succeeds Brendan Mullane, who left the menswear company in early February, after becoming the first creative director appointed by the Italian fashion label.

It is worth noting that in the meantime, according to the trade unions, Brioni has announced the cutting of 400 jobs, or one third of its employees. On Tuesday 22nd March, at a meeting between the unions and Brioni's management at the Italian Economic Development Ministry, the label presented a relaunch plan, involving a restructuring of the tailoring workshops, retail expansion and the appointment of a creative director. Mission accomplished for the latter.
