Boll & Rava launch "ideal" travel garment

Formerly designers at Viscomte A, head of a collection a few seasons ago for French shirtmaker Rousseau that was more fashion-oriented than the brand’s habitual range, and still designers for collections by major Swiss retailer Lorenz Bach, Bertrand Boll and Guillaume Rava have now chosen to strike out on their own. They’ve just presented their first menswear collection under the name Boll & Rava. The line, which is centered around the travel suit, is both unique and almost universal.

Fans of products and fabrics, the designers took funciton as their starting point: made for travelling and thus durable, comfortable, and of course fashionable. Young but experienced, and frequent travelers, the duo tested out the suit themselves over the course of a year and a half before its release.

The result: a collection of 18-20 pieces, or taking into account color options, a total of 40 variations. The fit is modern, with a fabric that might recall a Loro Piana knit. Bertrand Boll doesn’t hesitate to mention jogging even if the travel suit obviously fits into a different kind of box. The price is also different for a very luxury-based positioning.

The price of the travel suits range from 1,500 to 3,000 euros. The collection also includes a range of sweaters made of cashmere and silk priced between 500 and 900 euros. Even the boxes in which the garments are presented are elegant.

In terms of distribution, Boll & Rava will rely on multibrand retailers but also unusual locations such as luxury hotels, for example. The pair may also target regulars of ultra luxury Paris Saint-Germain soccer fan lodges.

To market the product, Boll & Rava already has its own showroom: Corner23, where its presentation during Paris men’s fashion week was held. The showroom happens to be run by Rava’s wife.
