Barbour, the heritage manufacturer of wax jackets, and American footwear brand Timberland are set to open new stores at Livingston Designer Outlet, while Hugo Boss has launched a permanent site at the mall following a successful pop-up.

Livingston Designer Outlet is visited by 6.5 million customers every year

Barbour will be opening a 1,601 sq ft store at Livingston Designer Outlet in July, while Timberland has signed to take a 3,181 sq ft unit that will sell its outerwear, watches and sunglasses at reduced prices.

In addition to these new names, luxury fashion retailer Hugo Boss has joined the shopping mall on a permanent basis after introducing a successful pop-up. The brand has committed to a 5-year lease term in a 2,873 sq ft unit, and will carry out a significant shop refit to meet the increasing demand for menswear.

“Despite the current trend for more prudent spending habits in full-price retail, retailers are recognising the growing popularity of discount shopping among consumers, and the attributed turnover that can result from this,” said Colin Brooks, Managing Director of Realm.

“As a result, we are seeing different brands breaking the market. This has had a positive impact on existing players who are making the additional investment to bring shop fit-outs in line with full-price stores, as evidenced by Hugo Boss’ additional outlay at Livingston. As we continue to see UK and international consumers favouring the premium sector, we expect this to continue.”

The Scottish shopping centre has welcomed 14 new brands over the last year, totalling 299,177 sq ft of new retail space. New tenants include Vans, White Stuff, Original Penguin and Graham & Brown, and are trading well alongside the centre’s existing line-up that includes Ted Baker, Fred Perry, Lacoste and The North Face, according to Realm.

Livingston Designer Outlet is visited by 6.5 million customers a year, including increasing numbers in international visitors thanks to the outlet’s adjacency to key transport hubs in Scotland.
