Arcadia plotting major international expansion

According to The Independent, Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia group is looking to ramp up its international expansion, sending its various brands as far afield as Azerbaijan and Chile.

After opening 14 concessions in department store chain Nordstrom over the past year, Arcadia is set to triple its North American presence. The plan involves lauching Topshop and Topman in a further 28 Nordstrom stores this year, introducing Topman formal wear into 20 of those, complementing Nordstrom’s footwear departments and beauty halls with Topshop’s shoes and make-up lines.

Billionaire Sir Philip Green has expressed desires to “continue to push on internationally with our search for our own fully owned flagships," with Topshop and Topman stores likely to open in Miami, San Francisco and Boston.

Last year, British retail billionaire Philip Green sold a 25 percent stake in Topshop and Topman to U.S. private equity firm Leonard Green and Partners.

Other brands in the Arcadia portfolio will feature heavily in the international expansion plan, with a further 185 overseas franchises to open by August 2014 for brands Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Wallis and Burton.

Further afield, the Arcadia group is gearing up for a Topshop and Topman opening in Azerbaijan as well as the launch of Miss Selfridge in Australia and Chile. In addition to a recent outlet store opening in Hong Kong, the British clothing retailer is looking to total the total number of Arcadia stores in the Far east up to 225, with a further 49 to be added by next summer.
