Antonio Marras relaunches men's wear collection

Published
Dec 4, 2013

Antonio Marras is relaunching his men's wear line and marking the completion of his business reorganization through a new partnership. The Sardinian designer has signed a multi-year agreement with Emmegierre Fashion, a manufacturer in Bergamo (northern Italy) for the production of a men's wear line.

The men's collection was originally launched in 2002, shortly after the creation of the Antonio Marras line in 1999, the label's feminine ready-to-wear collection, and was discontinued in 2009. The relaunch is scheduled to take place in January during the Milan men's fashion week with a runway show of the fall/winter 2014/2015 collection.

"I had long had a special wish to start over again with men’s wear. It was my duty. I owed it to my father and to him I dedicate my collection. I waited long enough to understand which partner could be the best suited to work with me on interpreting a contemporary way of dressing, which is constantly evolving while maintaining its own identity," said Antonio Marras.

The line will be managed directly in-house by the sales office at the Circolo Marras, the company's headquarters and showroom in Milan. Distribution will be organized through a network of agents and distributors in Italy and abroad, especially in countries where the brand performs well: Russia and emerging markets such as China. The collection will have a strong focus on knits and will position itself in the affordable range — jackets between 390 and 550 euros, pants between 190 and 300 euros, knits from 230 to 350 euros.

This partnership is part of a company reorganization initiated in 2012 when Antonio Marras brought back management in-house for his women's ready-to-wear collection, now produced by Castor, a company based in Mantua (Northern Italy) specializing in high-end apparel.

In September, the designer signed a deal with the Italian Loma company to manufacture his young fashion line I'M Isola Marras, which was launched in 2008 through a license agreement with Interfashion of the Stefanel Group.
