Anine Bing secures $15 million in Series A funding

Female-led womenswear company Anine Bing announced on Wednesday that it has closed a $15 million Series A funding round with plans to put the money towards retail expansion, digital growth, the development of consumer analytics technology and personnel.

Key investors Index Ventures, Greycroft Partners and Felix Capital – who, between them, have previously supported the likes of Farfetch, Trunk Club, Glossier and Goop – participated equally in the round of funding.

“Anine Bing is a great illustration of what we are doing at Felix Capital, backing founders that build inspiring brands on top of engaged, authentic communities growing organically,” said Frederic Court, founder and managing partner at Felix Capital, in a release. “We look forward to leveraging the Felix network and know-how to help Anine Bing blossom into one of the defining brands for millennial women.”

As the luxury womenswear brand prepares for the opening of its second LA location this month, it has announced plans to open two more stores before the end of the year, as well as a spate of new locations, both in the US and abroad, in 2019.

The company was founded in Los Angeles in 2012 by Danish model Anine Bing and husband Nicolai Nielson, who now serve as the brand’s chief creative director and CEO, respectively. Aiming to channel a “timeless yet rebellious” aesthetic, the brand has since become a multi-million-dollar business with a dedicated social media following.

Commenting on the company’s new funding, Nielson stated, “We are excited for the significant opportunity to continue expanding and to bring Anine Bing to even more customers globally. This will allow us to communicate our brand identity to more women, creating a message that is relevant worldwide as well as reaching different markets.”

“As a female founder, I want to create a brand that empowers women," added Bing. "I'm excited to continue building a platform and brand that supports all women and encourages individuality and authenticity."

Anine Bing currently operates eight stores, located in LA, New York – where the brand has two locations – , Paris, London, Berlin, Barcelona, and Madrid.
