Amer Sports acquires Louisville Slugger

Finnish company Amer Sports, which owns Atomic, Salomon, Nikita and Bonfire, is strengthening its "sports balls" business, which notably already includes Wilson, by acquiring the American baseball brand Louisville Slugger from Hillerich & Bradsby Co. The transaction amounts to 70 million dollars.

Founded in 1884, Louisville Slugger is the official bat supplier for Major League Baseball in the United States. The brand is the market leader with an annual turnover of 75 million dollars.

For its last fiscal year ending in late December, Amer Sports saw its sales jump by 6% in local currencies as compared to 2013 to nearly 2.5 billion dollars.
