The company, which already owns the license for Zac Posen handbags and cold-weather accessories, acquired the trademark in an auction, according to a report from WWD.

The U.S. publication further reported that Posen is negotiating with Centric Brands about "his involvement in the new business arrangement."

39-year-old Posen, whose designs have been seen on celebrities like Rihanna, Michelle Obama and Gwyneth Paltrow, and who was named the CFDA’s womenswear designer of the year in 2004, announced the shuttering of his namesake label in November. At the time, he pegged ”the increasingly challenging fashion and retail landscape" as a main reason behind the decision.

Centric brands was formed in October 2018, after a significant portion of Global Brand Group Holdings Limited’s North American licensing business was sold to Differential Brands Group. In the aftermath, Differential changed its name to Centric Brands Inc.
