Yours Clothing strikes concession deal with Tesco

Published
Apr 27, 2021

Value plus-size fashion retailer Yours Clothing has signed a partnership deal with Tesco, the UK’s largest supermarket operator. The Peterborough-based business is to open standalone units within selected Tesco stores.

Under the agreement, the fashion retailer will operate dual branded Yours Clothing/BadRhino units for a trial period in two stores. The first will open at the Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, Hampton, on 30 April. The second store will open next month at the Tesco store in Walsall.

The trial is seen as a long-term project and both banners and will create an unspecified number of jobs, reported the Peterborough Telegraph.

Andrew Killingsworth, owner and chief executive of Yours Clothing and BadRhino, told the newspaper: “As the retail environment adapts to a new way of working, opening stores in partnership with Tesco is an exciting development for us and assists with our ongoing growth plans”.

He added: “As the leading retailer of ladies’ curve clothing and big and tall menswear clothing, we are excited about introducing even more customers to both brands via our partnership with Tesco, while offering great value on trend clothing that fits and flatters”.

Eight months ago, AK Retail Holdings, the owner of Yours Clothing and BadRhino, also acquired the women’s speciality retailer Long Tall Sally, which caters specifically for women five feet, eight inches tall and above, in a move that created 30 jobs. The group also owns Bump It Up Maternity and Yours London.

Killingsworth said that AK Retail’s portfolio had experienced ongoing success by bringing on-trend clothing to specialist markets with a focus on fit and quality at a competitive price.

Supermarkets have increasingly teamed up with fashion labels to boost their clothing offer in recent years and branded concessions in their giant stores have proved to be a popular way of using the spare space that's often available inside those locations.
