Opened on 10 December at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, 'Painting and Weaving Opportunity’ explores the designer’s recent inspiration to combine his designs with paintings, as well as other relationships between opposites such as 2D and 3D, and male and female.

Since his debut in 1981, Yohji Yamamoto has been considered one of the industry’s most influential designers, creating unexpected designs that still remain relevant today and continuing to drive trends with his current offer.

His works are on display alongside creations by Yuuka Asakura, a young Japanese artist who has been a frequent influence on Yohji Yamamoto’s collections in the last seasons.

The exhibition also includes clothing presented on uniquely-shaped mannequins, encouraging visitors to embrace a new and free perspective on fashion.
