Work has started on a £20 million extension at Elliot’s Field shopping park in Rugby two years after its revamp.

Shopping centre owner Hammerson is investing £20 million to create 9 new retail units, a café/restaurant and approximately 500 customer car parking spaces. Elliot’s Field tenants already include Debenhams, Marks and Spencer, Next, TK Maxx, River Island and Fatface. When Fatface opened in 2015, it was its first store in a retail park in England.

“The council has put in place policies to deliver economic growth for the borough and ambitious developments such as Elliott’s Field show the benefits of making Rugby open for business. Hammerson’s £20 million investment in the expansion of Elliott’s Field promises to deliver a further boost to our economy and attract more major retailers to Rugby, increasing the choice on offer for our residents,” commented Rugby Borough Council Leader Michael Stokes after the sod-turning ceremony.

The first retailers signed up to open in the second phase of Elliott’s Field include DFS, Oak Furniture Land, Sofology and Tapi. Further names will be announced shortly.

The new phase is scheduled to open before Christmas 2017.
