The united front of 'Made in Italy' fashion, a long time in the offing, seems to be about to happen. "From September 2017, women's fashion in Milan will be concentrated in one single period, ten days in a row featuring trade and fashion shows," stated Claudio Marenzi, the President of Sistema Moda Italia (SMI), the employer organisation of Italy's fashion and textile manufacturers.

An agreement was finally reached, after repeated discussions and the government’s intervention, advocating a greater synergy among the various players in Italian fashion.

The footwear trade show theMicam and the international leather goods show Mipel decided to change their dates, moving from early September to the 17th, three days before the start of the Milan women's ready-to-wear Fashion Week, with which their closing day will overlap.

The Fashion Week will end on 26th September, creating a seamless ten-day event. "Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will officially announce the change at the opening of the forthcoming September Fashion Week," revealed Claudio Marenzi.

After 2017, the staging of all these different fashion events at the same time should become the standard format every year.
