Women for Women host London fashion car boot sale

On April 23, the Brewer Street Car Park in London, which is home to London Fashion Week, will host an event that may sound slightly less glamorous: a car boot sale.

Laura Bailey, one of the sale's contributors.

But this is no ordinary car boot sale. Arranged as part of Women for Women International’s #SheInspiresMe campaign, it will sell designs donated by fashionistas and designers including Alex Eagle, Alice Temperley, Bay Garnett, Charlotte Olympia Dellal, Hikari Yokoyama, Laura Bailey, Saffron Aldridge, and Zoe Kuipers. LK Bennett will also sell sample sale pieces at the sale, which will raise money for the inspirational women survivors of war that Women for Women International supports.

“I am so excited about this new concept – it’s going to be a lot of fun and I hope that it will inspire men and women across the country to have a rummage in the back of their wardrobes and hold a car boot of their own in aid of Women for Women International,” said Brita Fernandez Schmidt, Executive Director, Women for Women International UK.

Model Laura Bailey said: "I’m proud to support Women for Women International via the Car Boot project. I was inspired to help, moved both by the survivor stories and the work on the ground. The idea of uniting on a mission to aid and empower women in countries affected by conflict is both emotive and important, now."

The car boot sale will also feature exclusive tote bags designed by Quentin Jones, which will be sold at the event. Entrance costs £10 and opening hours are 1pm-5pm.
