White Stuff appoints Gareth Jones as non-exec director

Published
Jul 23, 2020

Gareth Jones, the former CEO of Missguided’s online operations, has joined the White Stuff board as a non-executive director.

White Stuff

His executive career has included several senior roles at leading companies, including CEO of MuscleFood and deputy CEO and COO of e-tailer Shop Direct. At the latter, he oversaw the successful transformation of the retail business from a catalogue business to a pure online operation.

Jones was also a non-executive director at Moss Bros until March 2020, when the menswear business was taken from public to private ownership.

Commenting on his appointment, White Stuff chairman Debbie Hewitt said he brings “strong digital and online experience” as well as broad strategic, brand and commercial skills.

She added: “He is culturally aligned to the strong customer ethos that permeates White Stuff. His experience will enable him to make an immediate contribution to the company and accelerate our progress in online. We look forward very much to working with him.”

The British fashion and lifestyle brand generates around 30% of its revenues online, but the Covid-19 pandemic is likely to have boosted its drive to accelerate online growth. The company has 120 stores in the UK, all of which were forced to close their doors during the lockdown.
