Whistles to axe menswear range

Published
Feb 6, 2019

High street stalwart Whistles is set to axe its menswear range to concentrate on women’s fashion.

Whistles

The brand branched into men’s fashion in 2014, and opened a dedicated menswear store in Shoreditch, London in 2016.

A spokesperson confirmed to FashionNetwork.com that the brand is closing the menswear line “to focus fully on continuing the growth of the successful womenswear business”.

The current Autumn/Winter 2018 collection, which is still available for purchase on Whistles.com, will be the label’s final menswear range.

Earlier this year, the premium fashion business revealed a return to profitability with net profit rising to £3.6m in the year to March 2018 from a net loss of £3.77 million a year earlier.

This was driven by strong sales growth (up 16.1% on a comparative basis) and a cost-cutting programme, which led to the closure of some loss-making stores.
