Whistles opens new store at Intu Derby

Published
Jul 17, 2020

Contemporary fashion brand Whistles has opened the doors to a brand-new store on level 2 of Intu Derby.

Whistles

This is the first new store the company has opened since the easing of lockdown. Like other Whistles locations, the new space has enhanced hygiene and safety measures in place, and fitting rooms are closed to minimise physical contact.

In addition to the complete womenswear collection, the space houses the brand’s footwear and accessories range.

For Intu Derby, the signing of Whistles represents a massive win. Colin Flinn, on behalf of the mall, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Whistles to intu Derby, further strengthening our premium fashion offering and bringing another highly desirable brand into the region.

“This new and exciting arrival reinforces our commitment to our long-term aim of creating the best retail and leisure experiences for our shoppers. Over the last few months, a number of leading fashion brands including Boss, Hobbs and Phase Eight have all chosen Intu Derby as a great place to invest.”

Intu Derby is one of several regional shopping centres in Intu’s portfolio. It’s interesting that retailers are still signing up to open new stores at the group’s destinations despite Intu’s collapse. The group, which entered administration in recent weeks, is reportedly cutting a considerable number of head office jobs and its CEO Matthew Roberts resigned two weeks ago.
