Westgate Oxford signs trio of fashion brands

The new £440m Westgate Oxford shopping centre is boosting its fashion credentials with news that three major fashion retailers, Flannels, Mango and Zara, are opening new in the coming months.

Flannels, Sports Direct’s luxury fashion chain, will open a 10,605-square-foot store on the centre’s lower ground floor in December, joining Ted Baker, Mint Velvet and Bobbi Brown in that area of the mall. The store will feature the brand’s new shop fit design.

“We’re delighted to be able to introduce Flannels to Westgate, Oxford. A large, affluent catchment, alongside compelling sustainability credentials and an already fantastic retail offer, meant it was a natural choice for our brand. We look forward to opening our doors in December,” said Carl Tallents of Flannels.

Russell Loveland, senior portfolio director at Landsec, added: “Westgate is an aspirational retail destination which is home to the best of British fashion. Flannels is a welcome addition to a strong line-up of brands who share Landsec’s core values of creating a retail environment centered on a best-in-class experience.”

Zara is expected to move into a 39,500-square-foot store across three floors in the North Arcade in time for Christmas. The new shop will replace the Clarendon Centre one, which is expected to close in the next months.

Mango will open next door to Zara at the Westgate Oxford, according to a local media outlet.

The shopping centre opened in October last year to replace the 1970s centre that was demolished in 2016. It spreads over 800,000 square feet, with over 100 shops, restaurants and cinema, and is currently 95% let.
