East London’s Westfield Stratford shopping centre has a new tenant from this month – Ikea. The Swedish furniture company has chosen Westfield Stratford for its new Order and Collection Point.

Located centrally in the mall, the unit will measure 900 sqm. and is meant to bring Ikea’s home furnishing range and expertise closer to more customers. Shoppers can ask Ikea workers questions and touch and feel the products at the space, which is meant mainly as a planning studio to plan bigger purchases such as kitchens, wardrobes and sofas. It won’t have Ikea’s full product range to take home, but customers can order from the IKEA online range for home delivery or for collection at the collection point, and there will be a small selection of products.

Ikea Westfield Stratford City Order and Collection Point Manager, Mirco Righetto, said: “We are delighted to be bringing this unique version of IKEA to Westfield. Today, customers in the region shop with us online but they have to travel to other London stores to see the range or get advice from our co-workers. Located within 5 minutes of the train stations and close to major bus routes, IKEA Westfield Stratford City Order and Collection Point will be easy to access by public transport, something that we know is important to many customers who live in London.

Ikea is currently expanding and aims to make its products more accessible to more people. It said it will trial a number of similar Order and Collection Points across the UK.
