At long last, next March Volcom will plant its flag in the city of Paris. The US label, inspired by board sports, pop music and California's counter-culture, will open its first store in the French capital, the 45th worldwide, at 5 rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, close to Place de la Bastille.

Volcom will take over the 210 m2 premises on two levels formerly occupied by Celio Club's flagship store, opened in 2011. The Kering group's label has chosen a commercial thoroughfare that is very much on the up lately, after Carhartt expanded its store there, and Lee, G-Star Raw and Jordan opened stores too. The new opening will boost Volcom's presence in Paris, where it already has a foothold in streetwear retailers like Citadium and Urbansurfers.

To generate more buzz around the inauguration and to strengthen its community, the label has also launched a competition on its Instagram site, rewarding its most loyal customers. The new Paris store will be Volcom's eleventh in France, the fifteenth in Europe, and the 45th worldwide.
