Legendary fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has added another accolade to her impressive resume.

Vivienne Westwood has received the 2019 London Design Medal for Lifetime Achievement - DR

On Sunday, the fashion designer and activist received the 2019 London Design Medal for Lifetime Achievement, awarded by London Design Festival in recognition of her significant contribution to the design industry over the course of her career.

Wearing a Chinese tea print suit from her Spring-Summer 2013 Gold Label collection, the designer picked up the prize at an event held at The House of Commons in Westminster, London on Sunday.

Westwood follows in the footsteps of the likes of Zaha Hadid, Richard Rogers, Margaret Calvert, Dieter Rams, Paul Smith and Bethan Laura Wood in winning the award.

Every year, London Design Festival pays tribute to four design heavyweights, including leading figures and emerging talents, for their contribution to the sector.

Vivienne Westwood, who was awarded an OBE in 1992 and a DBE in 2006, has twice earned the award for British Designer of the Year.

Her extensive body of work was showcased in a retrospective exhibition held at the V&A in 2004 - the largest exhibition ever devoted to a living British fashion designer.

Last year, she also received the Swarovski Award for Positive Change at The Fashion Awards for her continued work to promote and advocate a more sustainable fashion industry.
