Vans is celebrating its 50th anniversary and in addition to staging several events, throughout 2016 the brand will honour its tradition as an action sports footwear and apparel manufacturer by launching a series of special products.

In March 1966 in Anaheim, California, the Van Doren Rubber Company began to do business, manufacturing boat shoes in its plant and selling them directly to customers. Thanks to their robustness and their soles' outstanding adherence, from early on Vans shoes turned out to be ideal for skateboarding. From these humble beginnings, Vans has enjoyed 50 years of 'off the wall' experiences, from action sports to music, from art to fashion, transforming its shoes from a plain pair of sneakers into a worldwide platform for creative expression.

Celebratory events for Vans' 50th anniversary will begin in March 2016, with the global expansion of the company's cultural hub, the House of Vans. Through the hub, the brand will come alive and feast this major anniversary throughout the world together with its extended family, which has helped turn Vans into the brand it is today.

Vans is a brand belonging to VF Corporation and featuring apparel, footwear and accessories for extreme sports. Vans collections are available in over 75 countries through a network of partner companies, distributors and international offices. Vans also owns and operates over 450 stores worldwide.

The brand promotes an extreme sports lifestyle, youth culture and personal creativity through the support of athletes, musicians and artists and across progressive platforms and events such as the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing®, Vans U.S. Open of Surfing, Vans Pool Party, Vans Custom Culture, Vans Warped Tour®, and its cultural hub dedicated to international music, the House of Vans.
