Valentino reveals spectacular location for July couture show

Published
May 22, 2023

The trend for staging shows in spectacular locations is continuing and even when those shows are part of a specific city’s fashion week, the mantra is… the more impressive the venue, the better.

So it’s perhaps no surprise that Valentino is choosing to make an impact for Paris’s next Haute Couture week. The ultra-luxe label will show its AW23 couture collection inside the storied Château de Chantilly at 7:30pm on 5 July.

The chateau is actually a whole 50km from the centre of Paris but is an undeniably suitable venue for a show that’s a high-profile member of fashion’s most luxurious club of brands.

It’s set in manicured grounds with opulent water features and inside are ornate salons filled with royal portraiture and jewels of the Renaissance.

And for those who don’t get an invitation to the main event, the show will be streamed live on Valentino.com and on the house’s social channels.

For SS23, the label chose to show couture in the heart of Paris itself in the Bridge Club that’s under the historic Pont Alexandre III over the Seine. But the previous year the show had been in its salon on Place Vendôme so Pierpaolo Piccioli and his team are clearly getting much more ambitious with their choice of locations.

The news, coming hot on the heels of Dior’s Cruise collection show in Mexico City and Chanel’s at paramount Studios in California, highlights the importance luxury brands now place on making a statement not just with the clothes but with the backdrop for those clothes and the experience for the clients, buyers and media who attend.
