Valentino entrusts South East Asia and Australia to Alessandra Andreani

Published
Oct 30, 2021

Valentino continues to reorganize in Asia. Having handed over the management of its operations in China to Mitchell Bacha, and that of its Japanese and South Korean businesses to Masumi Shinohara, the Italian group owned by Qatari investment fund Mayhoola has announced a third appointment in the region: Alessandra Andreani, who has taken on the role of CEO for South East Asia and Australia. The executive, who stepped into her new position on October 18, will be based in Singapore and will report to chief commercial officer Marco Giacometti.

Alessandra Andreani - Valentino

Andreani has extensive luxury sector experience in Asia, where she has worked for almost all of her career, excluding seven years in Spain, between 2007 and 2013, when she led the Prada group's operations on the market. Most recently, she served as LVMH-owned Loewe's managing director in China, having previously served as CEO of the brand's Japanese subsidiary. Prior to this, she also worked as managing director of Marc Jacobs in China, as well as operation manager of both Prada and Mauboussin in Japan, and of Furla in Japan and Hong Kong.

Andreani "will be responsible for reinforcing Valentino's presence in the South East Asia market with a main focus on Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and Thailand," explained the brand in a release, going on to explain that "her first main challenge will be the new opening of the Valentino flagship store in Sidney scheduled for the first semester of 2022."

This appointment confirms the house's intention to strengthen and accelerate its operations in Asia, a market with strong potential. Within the region now led by Andreani, Valentino operates two boutiques in Australia, concessions in Australian department store chain David Jones, two stores in Singapore, one in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and another in Bangkok, Thailand.

As CEO of the region, Andreani succeeds Mika Bailey, who led South East Asia and Australia as general manager.
