On Thursday, February 12, the American Surf Industry Manufacturers Association presented thirteen awards for the best innovations, products and marketing campaigns of 2014.

Featuring a mix of eco-friendly materials, Patagonia’s Yulex Nexkin wetsuit won out as both environmental product of the year and wetsuit of the year.

Volcom’s Mod-Tech was chosen as boardshort of the year, while for women, the swimwear brand Beach Riot received an accolade. The Average Joe by Channel Islands Surfboards, meanwhile, was selected as surfboard of the year.

FCS, a specialist in leashes and fins, designed the year’s most interesting hardgoods accessory: the FCSII Essential Series Fin Collection.

As for apparel, awards this year were presented to Volcom for its women's collections and to Vans for its menswear range. Vissla was recognized as emerging brand of the year.

Vans received the award for footwear of the year for its Surf Siders while Stance took the award for accessory product of the year.

From a marketing standpoint, Rip Curl, with its campaign "My Bikini" for women, and Roark Revival with "Volume 7: Rocketship to Reykjavik" for men, stood out from the rest.
