US Polo Assn apparel brand enters UK and Ireland

Sports-casual label US Polo Assn is launching in the UK and Ireland this month with a menswear offer for spring/summer 2019 as the global market for the brand’s core product, the polo shirt, continues to grow.

The collection will be available from major chains and independents with stockists including Arcadia’s chains plus Next’s webstore. The DV8fashion webstore in Ireland will stock it from the start of April and in May, it will also debut in selected House Of Fraser and USC stores.

The brand has a surprisingly high profile for a label so closely associated with one sport (and a sport with a relatively narrow player base) and with one national association. And its profile is global. Only last month it sponsored the Queen's Cup Pink Polo 2019 in Thailand which, with its support for The Queen Sirikit Center for Breast Cancer, helped put it in front of a wider consumer base than just polo fans.

And last week it announced that it will be outfitting college polo players through a new nationwide collegiate outreach program in the US. Players at 16 colleges and universities across the country will sport its branded product to wear in their polo games and on campus throughout the polo and academic season.
