NEW YORK | Thu Feb 3, 2011 - Teen clothing retailers Abercrombie & Fitch Co (ANF.N), Aeropostale Inc (ARO.N) and American Eagle Outfitters Inc (AEO.N) on Thursday reported monthly sales for the last time.

That means that only 25 top U.S. chains will be left in the Thomson Reuters same-store sales index starting next month. As recently as five years ago, the index tracked 68 retailers. (A few of those have been acquired by rivals or gone bankrupt.).

Here is a list of retailers that have stopped reporting monthly sales since then.

2011

• Abercrombie & Fitch Co (ANF.N)
• Aeropostale Inc (ARO.N)
• American Eagle Outfitters Inc (AEO.N)

2009

• Chico's FAS (CHS.N)
• Cache Inc (CACH.O)
• Pacific Sunwear of California (PSUN.O)
• Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N)

2008

• Jos A Banks Clothiers (JOSB.O)
• Wilson's Leather
• Macy's Inc (M.N) (resumed in October that year)
