The outdoors meets streetwear. The collaboration between Carhartt WIP, an expert in incorporating its workwear origins into urban apparel, and the trail running and outdoor clothing brand Salomon, was just waiting to happen.

The fruits of the Swiss entrepreneur, Edwin Faeh’s label established in 1997 and the French, Annecy-based sports gear manufacturer’s alliance have been available in stores and on both brands’ online websites since January 10.

This collaboration concerns the reinterpretation of the Shelter CSWP. The high-tops meet the basic needs of an outdoor shoe, as well as featuring ripstop detailing (a nod to Carhartt’s workwear origins), a waterproof and insulated membrane and a rugged sole. To promote the product, the two labels produced a video campaign posted on social media platforms in which a group of graffiti artists walk the streets of a city at night. This new release will surely elevate Salomon’s positioning, confirming its undeniable potential in fashion stores, as already seen throughout these past seasons.

This first Carhartt WIP x Salomon Sportstyle product is also distributed in a selection of premium streetwear multi-brand retailers. In France, Salomon, which used to offer trail running and outdoor wear to its customers, has opted for a change of strategy. The brand's sales teams are now focusing on sportswear, with its Sportstyle product offering entrusted to The Clothette sales agency for France and Belgium. The Carhartt WIP collaboration is retailed at Specimn, Kith, Novoid, Le labo, Shinzo, Broken Arm, and The Next Door (which will display a window dedicated exclusively for the product).

In Asia and Australia, the collaboration is scheduled to launch on February 17.
