Unilever names new president of beauty and personal care

Published
Mar 27, 2019

Unilever has recruited Sunny Jain to be the president of its new Beauty and Personal Care division and join the Unilever leadership executive team.

Unilever's Beauty and Personal Care division includes brands such as St Ives, Dove, Pond's and Toni & Guy - St Ives

Jain will join the consumer goods company in June. He is currently head of core consumables at Amazon, where he is responsible for Health & Personal Care, Beauty & Grooming, Luxury Beauty, Grocery/Food, Baby, Private Brands, the Pillpack subsidiary and other innovation teams.

Prior to that, Jain spent over 16 years at Unilever rival Procter & Gamble, where he held several positions across new business creation, marketing, sales and IT.

“Sunny’s unique experience – which combines both consumer goods and online retail industries – coupled with his understanding of the beauty market, make him exceptionally well suited to help us deliver our growth ambitions for our Beauty & Personal Care division. Sunny also has a strong sense of purpose and is passionate about high performance, and will therefore undoubtedly be a highly valued addition to our team,” commented Unilever CEO Alan Jope on Jain’s appointment.

Sunny Jain added: “Unilever’s Beauty & Personal Care division boasts some of the world’s most iconic brands – Dove, Axe, Lifebuoy and Lux to name just a few – while the transformation of its portfolio and its move into high growth spaces such as Prestige and ecommerce make it well positioned for future success. I look forward to bringing my varied experience of the industry and deep passion for serving consumers.”

As president of the Beauty & Personal Care division, Jain will lead alongside Hanneke Faber, president of Foods & Refreshment and Peter ter Kulve, president of Home Care, overseeing all three Unilever divisions following a corporate reorganisation last year.

The British/Dutch company, whose revenues hit €51 billion in 2018, is making changes to its leadership and organisation in a bid to become a faster, leaner and more agile business.
