That's all set to change now, as the retailer has announced that it will open its first stand-alone store in Yorkshire at the new £50 million Fox Valley development. Fox Valley will open on June 16 in Sheffield and aims to bring a new town centre to the northern part of the city.

Seasalt was founded in 1981 and sells womenswear, kidswear and homeware that reflects Cornwall's landscape and coastlines. Currently, its most northern store is located at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth, which is also owned by the Fox Valley developers Dransfield Properties.

Co-founder of Seasalt, Leigh Chadwick, said, “We’ve all worked incredibly hard at Seasalt to get to where we are and we’re delighted to be bringing a touch of Cornwall to the region. We’ve always been driven by innovation and keeping things new so it’s great to be part of this venture with Fox Valley.”

Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Properties said: “We are delighted that the team at Seasalt have chosen Fox Valley for the company’s first stand-alone store in Yorkshire. We want Fox Valley to be a really unique retail experience which I hope is something which is reflected in the design and the architecture. Attracting a range of stores and restaurants which bring something completely different to the area is a key part of creating our new retail destination for north Sheffield.”

Earlier this year Seasalt teamed up with a number of celebrities, including Biba's Barbara Hulanicki, to create jute bags to support charity Fishermen's Mission.
