UK's JD Sports to open Glasgow flagship store

One of the largest JD Sports shops in the UK is opening in Glasgow in September, after the retailer signed a lease with retail and leisure developer and asset manager Sovereign Land for a new flagship store at the St Enoch Centre.

The new store measures 30,000 sqft. and is one of the largest retail lettings in Glasgow city centre. Other flagship stores at St Enoch include H&M, Topshop, SuperDry and Debenhams.

Paul Bailey, asset manager at Sovereign Land, said: "The signing of JD Sports for a substantial  flagship store at St Enoch is a significant addition to the retail offer and provides even greater diversity to the existing choice of retail, food and beverage outlets."

"We are also currently in advanced talks with other major UK & European retailers for exciting new flagship stores that will continue to cement Argyle Street’s position as the prime location for High Street fashion in Glasgow."

Warren Thompson, UK Acquisition Manager, JD Sports added: "We have been searching for a site for a Flagship store in central Glasgow for some time, and are absolutely delighted to have secured such a unit within St Enoch Shopping Centre. Prime sites like this rarely become available, and we did not want to miss out."

The new shop will have a frontage to Argyle Street.
