Tropic, a vegan skincare firm founded by former Apprentice contestant Susie Ma and backed by Lord Sugar, has moved into a new £4m headquarters in Croydon, London to accommodate its growing workforce.

The new premises are five times the size of the company’s previous headquarters, underlining its growth following Ma’s appearance on the Apprentice.

According to media reports, the brand has seen turnover increase by 198% in two years, and made £29.5m in sales in 2018. It currently sells 3.3 million natural and vegan beauty products a year.

The new 48,000-square-foot headquarters will be home to over 150 staff, and allow the company to move into a new phase of growth with plans to extend the product range. Last year, the label revamped 15 existing formulas, launched 12 new products and released 10 new collections.

“With the success of Tropic growing year on year, it became a necessity for us to move our HQ to accommodate both our growing team and growing production,” commented Susie Ma at the unveiling on Tuesday.

“I’m delighted to be expanding and upgrading Tropic’s Beauty Kitchen to freshly make even more Tropic products, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds at our new HQ!”

Lord Sugar, who owns 50% of the company, added: “Today’s opening marks a true milestone in the progress of Tropic. Since launching the business as a teenager, Susie has been tireless in growing the Tropic brand and her success is thoroughly deserved.

“This new headquarters will drive the next phase of Tropic’s growth and opens up a number of additional opportunities to develop the brand and further extend the product range."
