Tradeshow CIFF partners with Copenhagen Fashion Summit

Danish fashion tradeshow CIFF is the newest partner for Copenhagen Fashion Summit, the world's largest event on sustainability in fashion.

CIFF and BCHG, its parent company, have a longstanding commitment to sustainability. The company gets a significant proportion of its energy needs from a combination of solar, wind and water sources, and uses locally grown, sustainable produce wherever possible.

CIFF also has an ongoing partnership with 1.618, the Paris-based platform for sustainable luxury. Last August, CIFF launched a new showcase dedicated to socially responsible and sustainable brands. The tradeshow says it places the emphasis on both design and sustainability.

“For too long, sustainable fashion has been almost exclusively about the environmental impact of production or the traceability of materials, with too little regard for design. We believe that if sustainable fashion is to have a real impact, the product’s design has to be part of the equation. Otherwise, it risks remaining a niche product,” explains CIFF’s fashion & design director Kristian Andersen.

Copenhagen Fashion Summit stated: "We are proud to count CIFF as a partner of Copenhagen Fashion Summit. A world-leader in windmills and other smart energy solutions, such as its residential heating system, Denmark aims to not just be a sustainable society but also to inspire other countries to follow suit. That ambition extends not just to the companies powering our energy needs, but increasingly to the wardrobe-purveyors shaping our sartorial purchasing decisions. Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, CIFF for short, is taking a key role in this pursuit."

The Copenhagen Fashion Summit takes place on May 12, 2016.
