Topshop begins expansion into Germany

After the opening earlier this year of its first store on continental Europe in Amsterdam, it was only a matter of time until Topshop made its entry into the German market. The wait is now over, as the company announced the opening of a new 1,200 m² flagship store in Cologne, Germany, in early 2016.

The exact location of the store is still unknown, but according to industry insiders the London-based label could be moving into the space which is now home to the shoe store Roland, in Schildergasse. In any case, the speculation about a possible expansion into the German market is now over.

Until now the brand’s fan base, which follows the steps of the British label thanks to its ambassador, Cara Delevingne, could mostly enjoy the products through the online shop.

Topshop is also available in the German country in some wholesale stores, as well as in three Karstadts, a German department store chain.

The label is also looking at other potential locations for stores, such as the shopping mall Centro in Oberhausen, in western Germany.

Apparently, the Arcadia Group’s CEO, Philip Green has ambitious plans for Topshop, as he talked about a “Europa-wide expansion” at the opening of its Amsterdam store.
Topshop operates 319 stores in the UK, 9 in the US and around 140 franchised stores in more than 40 countries around the world
