Tommy Hilfiger licenses Tailored line to Italy's Lardini

Published
Jun 18, 2020

Tommy Hilfiger has announced a licensing deal for its premium Tailored line with Italy's Lardini. According to a release published by the PVH-owned brand, the partnership will see Lardini design, produce and distribute Tailored suits, jackets and trousers in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and APAC (Asia-Pacific) regions.

The collaboration, the duration of which has not been specified, will begin in the Spring/Summer 2021 season. The American label explained that its objective with the deal is "to drive further sales of the Tommy Hilfiger brand and increase the global reach of its range of products."

Specialized in men's formal and sportswear, particularly jackets, Lardini was founded in 1978 and boasts impressive savoir-faire and a history of research and innovation. With revenues of 98 million euros, the company manufactures its products at its production site in Filottrano, near Ancona, Marche.

Lardini produces pieces for its own menswear brand as well as menswear collections for other houses. Up until a few years ago, the company's most notable clients included Etro, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry and Trussardi

"We believe that leveraging Lardini's market expertise will enable us to further expand our tailored product categories in Europe and Asia," commented Martijn Haglman, the recently appointed CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe.

Tommy Hilfiger introduced its formal menswear collection to the European market in 1998 via a license with Switzerland's Holy Fashion Group. As of October 2011, the line focused on classic chic menswear was reintegrated into the American company's core business. In 2013, however, the project was given a boost by the creation of a dedicated division named Tommy Hilfiger Tailored, with a revised offer, more modern fits and cuts, and products manufactured in Europe from mainly Italian fabrics.

Since 2017, Tailored has been managed under license in the U.S. by American apparel manufacturer and menswear specialist Peerless Clothing. With this latest deal with Lardini in Europe and Asia, Tommy Hilfiger's formal offering is now handled entirely by other companies.
