Sales of seasonal products including toys, gifts and decorations jumped 14% over the Christmas period, while general merchandise saw a 6.6% growth in sales. The retailer also sells apparel for men, women and children, reporting a 3.2% uptick in sales in this category.

Tofs, or The Original Factory Shop, improved its range of branded products and said prestigious brands such as Adidas, Calvin Klein and Jimmy Choo proved particularly popular additions to its portfolio.

On a like-for-like basis, total sales grew by 3.3%, driven by store sales.

Over the festive period, stock was well-controlled with good sell-through of key festive inspired products and everyday necessities.

An effort to deliver stock to stores pre-retailed allowed staff to have more time to engage with customers on the shop floor, while the launch of ‘tofs clubs’ with exclusive deals and promotions further enhanced the customer servicer.

“At Tofs, we pride ourselves on the discounts that we offer on many of the UK’s leading high street brands. Coupled with industry-leading service in stores that are typically located ten minutes away from our customers’ houses, we were delighted to welcome so many customers to enjoy their Christmas shopping ‘dopamine fix’ with us,” said Tofs CEO Tony Page.

The off-price department store chain has 217 stores across the UK and employs over 2,800 people.
