TJ Hughes to anchor Dundee's Wellgate Shopping Centre
Discount department store TJ Hughes has taken an anchor store previously occupied by BHS at Wellgate Shopping Centre in Dundee, Scotland.
The Liverpool-based family run business, which sells clothing, accessories, footwear and beauty products as well as garden furniture and electricals, is expected to move into the 53,900-square-foot unit in October.
The store will be located at the main entrance to the centre, and join a line-up of retailers that also includes New Look, Holland & Barrett, B&M and Home Bargains.
Stuart Moncur, head of national retail at Savills, commented: “TJ Hughes will occupy the former BHS store at the front of the Wellgate and will significantly improve the profile of the centre as well as drive substantial levels of footfall. We are excited about the prospects for Wellgate going forward and expect to have further new lettings to announce later in the year”.
The national department store chain has 20 stores across the UK, from Eastbourne in the South to Glasgow in the North. The most recent store opened in Chesterfield in 2017.
The value retailer stocks brands including Adidas, Ben Sherman, Gucci, G-Star, Converse, Bench, Pringle of Scotland, Ralph Lauren, Kurt Geiger, Radley, Karen Millen and Guess.
