Three international brands join the 080 Barcelona Fashion lineup

American brand Nicholas K, Argentina’s Nous Étudions and Moroccan label Marrakshi Life are completing the lineup for the 24th edition of Spanish fashion event 080 Barcelona Fashion, which is taking place on 25-28 June. Bringing together a total of 27 brands and designers, the event will once again take over the modernist enclosure of Sant Pau. And on the last day, the catwalk shows dedicated to swimwear will be held at Marina Vela, in the port of Barcelona.

After launching a new strategy in February, aimed at supporting local brands whilst also bringing selected international brands to create synergies and capture the attention of global media outlets and buyers, 080 Barcelona Fashion is confirming its bet on quality over quantity. As part of this effort, it has invited three international brands to join its lineup, building on an approach it launched in February, when Turkish menswear designer Umit Benan, Peruvian designer Esaú Yori and South African label Chulaap helped raise the event’s international profile.

Taking place on the first day of the summer edition at the modernist venue designed the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner will be the fashion show of Nicholas K, an American brand formed by brothers Nicholas and Christopher Kunz. The luxury brand, part of the prestigious CFDA (The Council of Fashion Designers of America) since 2009, will present a sustainable collection featuring a distinctive aesthetic of ‘urban nomads’ across its flowy, understated and conceptual garments. The label’s latest Spring Autumn 2019 collection was presented during New York Fashion Week Women’s in February.

Representing Argentina will be Nous Étudions, the womenswear brand led by designer Romina Cardillo, with a fashion show on Wednesday 26 June. Also having a strong commitment towards sustainability, the brand’s pieces are vegan, functional and minimalist. Nous Étudions is a brand on the rise. Its participation in the Next Green Talents project, led by Vogue Italia and Yoox during Milan Fashion Week in February, put it on the radar and the brand already boasts of a capsule collection with Nike sportswear. It has also showcased during London Fashion Week. On the same day, the event will also announce the winners of the 080 Investor Day, an event organised by 080 Barcelona Fashion and Seed&Click to support the development and growth of fashion startups.

Meanwhile, men’s fashion will come courtesy of Marrakshi Life, the unisex brand founded in 2013 by New York fashion photographer Randall Bachner. A commitment to 'slow fashion' and craftsmanship based on Moroccan techniques. The pieces, produced in the workshop of the firm in Marrakech, combine patchwork features in long coats with the lightness of tunics and caftans.

Marrakshi Life will host a show on Thursday 27 June - Marrakshi Life

The show schedule will include 24 additional events. From returning classics like Naulover, Oscarleon, Brain & Beast and Antonio Miro, to the winner of the best emerging design in the past three editions: the men’s tailoring firm Mans Concept Menswear. The fashion week will be closed by swimwear brands such as Guillermina Baeza, Como un Pez en el Agua and All Sisters. And organisers have saved the best for last: Custo Barcelona will close the event’s summer edition.
