The fashion academy was founded in 1935 and currently trains over 4,000 students in Milan, Paris, London and Shanghai. For the fall it has launched a new programme targeting the alumni community, with the objective of linking up nearly 700 former students of the Paris school, "to build an effective professional network which will play a key role in the fashion and luxury goods industry."

The 'I’m Alumni Community' programme will set up a dedicated website through which to help current or future professionals access job offers from fashion companies and head-hunters and take part in a series of meetings, webinars, conferences and seminars.

The programme will be launched first in Paris, and will extend to the Milan, London and Shanghai schools as of November. It has the potential to connect up to 45,000 professionals trained at the Istituto Marangoni.

During the 2016-17 academic year, the Istituto Marangoni in Paris will schedule regular talks by alumni who worked for Louis Vuitton, Acne, Saint Laurent and Chanel, including Justine Chomette for Balmain in October, Anna Philippa Wold for Rick Owens in mid-November and Robert Liptak of Saint Laurent in mid-January. The Institute will also host aperitif events, round-tables and dinners. The Istituto Marangoni Faculty Training programme will give alumni the opportunity to train to become tutors and teachers.

In parallel, the Istituto Marangoni has recently launched a competition among alumni to "choose the image representing your favourite memory as an Istituto Marangoni student". The winner will be awarded a scholarship for a master's course in one of the group's three schools.
