Ted Baker is strengthening its board of directors with the arrival of a new independent non-executive director this week.

Ted Baker

Sharon Baylay is a highly experienced digital and marketing executive who spent 16 years at Microsoft, holding several roles including general manager of the advertising and online division for Microsoft UK.

After Microsoft, Baylay became the director of marketing, communications and audiences at the BBC, where she also served as a member of the board and as a non-executive director of BBC Worldwide.

At Ted Baker, she will join the audit, remuneration and nomination committees and act as chair of the remuneration committee, taking over from Andrew Jennings.

David Bernstein, non-executive chairman of Ted Baker, commented: "We are delighted that Sharon has joined the Ted Baker Board as a non-executive director. Sharon's experience in the digital and marketing sectors will be invaluable in a competitive retail market in which ever-increasing importance is being placed on online engagement with customers. We look forward to her contributions going forward."

Her appointment follows a 4.2% increase in group revenues from 28 January to 9 June, an impressive performance despite unseasonal weather across Europe and the East Coast of America in the early part of the period and challenging trading conditions across many global markets.

Ted Baker operates 542 stores and concessions worldwide, and has a presence in leading department stores and independent stores in the UK and Europe, North America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia.
