Discount fashion retailer TK Maxx has decided to temporarily close its online shop as the number of UK coronavirus cases continues to grow.

TK Maxx

The brand was one of the first retailers to announce the closure of its UK stores on 19 March, four days before the government launched a ban on all non-essential retail stores.

“Our associates and you, our lovely customers, are at the heart of the TK Maxx family, and to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus, we decided to temporarily close our TK Maxx and Homesense stores on 19th March. As the situation has unfolded, we have made the decision to temporarily stop taking orders online at tkmaxx.com as well,” the retailer said in a statement.

Any orders placed recently will continue to be processed as normal, and the returns policy has been extended to allow customers to return items up to 30 days after the website is back up and running.

The UK government said online retailers can continue to trade during the pandemic but many fashion companies have decided to close their operations to allow staff the opportunity to follow the official advice and stay at home.

Next, Schuh, Moss Bros, River Island and Quiz have all stopped serving online customers as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise in the UK.
