The Hut Group’s Espa beauty brand is the latest major name to dive deeper into sustainability with the launch of a 37-piece refillable range.

Sustainability is a key focus for companies globally at present and refillable initiatives are coming thick and fast in the beauty sector.

Described as its “most sustainable range yet”, The Essentials Collection is blended with pure essential oils “to support mental and physical wellbeing”. It “has been designed to transform simple, everyday tasks - such as washing your hands - into moments of conscious luxury”.

There are nine everyday products in four fragrances, all contained in refillable and recyclable packaging. Six out of the nine products have accompanying 400ml refill pouches, which reduce plastic waste by up to 60% in comparison to a regular plastic bottle, the company said.

Also addressing the issue of smaller travel sizes being less sustainable, the company has produced several products in refillable 75ml travel sizes. Meanwhile the Intensive Hand Balm is packaged in a 100% recycled aluminium tube that can be placed in a regular household recycling bin when finished with.

Each product also contains between 92% and 99% natural skincare ingredients. And reflecting the times we live in, the collection includes a No Rinse Hand Cleanser and Cleansing Hand Spray that meet WHO and NHS standards.

Individual 400ml pouches will retail for £25, while the Espa Essentials Starter Pack comprising two pouches plus a refillable bottle and pump will be available for £40. Once depleted, replenishing bundles of three pouches can be purchased for £50.
