Jel Direct, which specialises in offering “cutting-edge outerwear at competitive prices” to high street retailers in the UK and Europe, said the new financing will be used to acquire new commercial premises for its first warehouse.

The 5,500 sq ft unit will also include a showroom for its new womenswear brand, Double Second, and another office.

Since entering the UK market with its own brand, Jel Direct said it has “significantly increased operations” while its new online womenswear store has enjoyed “great success” since launch.

Founder Emily Cheung said: “I’m delighted to be expanding the business with the launch of our UK-based clothing brand. I’m extremely grateful for the support from HSBC UK and in particular, our Relationship Manager Abdul Rehman.

“The team has been instrumental in enabling us to begin working on our future growth plans to break into international markets.”

Chris Chambers, area director for business banking at HSBC UK, added: “We’re pleased to be supporting with the launch of the Double Second clothing brand following incredible success for Jel Direct. We look forward to continuing to support the business’s future growth strategy.”
