Superdry has joined the list of Graduate Fashion Week partners by sponsoring the new Outerwear Award, a category the British brand is very familiar with.

Superdry

Known for its mix of vintage Americana and Japanese-inspired graphics, the brand sold 5.2 million jackets last year. This was a 30% increase compared to 2016, and with the polar vortex dubbed ‘Beast from the East’ hitting the UK this week, sales are predicted to rise again.

As a sponsor of the Outerwear Award, Superdry will recognise a graduate who shows a clear relatability in their signature style. The winner will receive a £1,000 prize, with a further £500 going to the winning graduate’s university.

The clothing brand will also have a stand onsite throughout the fashion showcase, offering events and masterclasses for graduates and visitors. This will create a platform for graduates to receive career advice on a drop-in basis with their portfolios and CVs.

Andrea Cartwright, Group HR Director of Superdry, said: “Sponsoring GFW is an excellent opportunity for us to support talented designers fulfilling their ambitions within the outerwear category. We feel passionately that designing outerwear is a true art and the designers of tomorrow should be recognised for their skill.”

Graduate Fashion Week is the world’s largest event for BA Fashion talent, and will be taking place on 3-6 June at the Old Truman Brewery in London. The winner of the Superdry Outerwear Award will be announced on the last day.
