Superdry has started looking for a new chief product officer, as it announces that Brigitte Danielmeyer has stepped down after less than three months in the role due to personal reasons.

Danielmeyer, who was formerly global head of womenswear at Tommy Hilfiger, joined the British clothing retailer in October. She was tasked with driving the business’ Global Digital Brand strategy by promoting innovation and creativity, drawing from her 22-year experience in the fashion sector.

Superdry said the chief product officer decided to leave her role after a period of compassionate leave before Christmas.

During her time at Tommy Hilfiger, she helped define the brand’s womenswear look and delivered two successful capsule collections with supermodel Gigi Hadid.

Superdry has been trying to raise its fast-fashion game with the launch of a series of ranges aimed at 16-24 year olds titled Superdry Preview.

It came just before the retail group admitted that a lack of innovation in some of its core categories, coupled with the unseasonably warm weather, had impacted profits for the 26 weeks ended 27 October 2018. Underlying pre-tax profit fell 49% to £12.9m during the period.
