The retailer launched the store on Tuesday at pop-up mall Boxpark, which regularly houses temporary stores of hundreds of fashion, accessories and lifestyle brands.

The opening comes as more consumers opt for vegan and natural beauty products as a result of social media campaigns and a move towards wellbeing-focused lifestyles. According to NPD Group, a global information company, the natural beauty market grew by 16% in 2017, ahead of the wider beauty market which increased by 7%.

Superdrug said: “As a brand, we listen to our customers. With Veganuary being such a hit and there being over 3.8 million posts on Instagram tagged with #veganlife it’s clear to us that people are after more vegan-friendly products. You might be thinking ‘Wow, what a challenge,’ but we’ve got nearly 1,000 own-brand products that are already vegan – it was less ‘OMG, this is gonna be a struggle’ and more ‘duh, what a no-brainer’”.

In addition to Superdrug’s own B.Cosmetics range of natural make-up and skincare, the store sells charcoal toothpaste, make-up wipes and avocado shower gel.

The Little Vegan Pop-Up Shop will be open for three months.
