Strong summer for London Designer Outlet as Spice Girls boost footfall

Published
Aug 29, 2019

London Designer Outlet, which sits next to Wembley Stadium, enjoyed a 9.2% increase in retail sales in June, July and August compared with the same months in 2018, boosted by the sold-out Spice Girls reunion tour.

The popular pop group’s three London shows were attended by tens of thousands of fans in June, with many hitting LDO’s restaurants and shops before the concerts.

Wembley Stadium also hosted concerts from artists including The Who and Pink.

Same-store sales were up 4.8% during the period, and footfall increased by 3% year-on-year, according to information provided by LDO manager Realm to the Evening Standard.

Sue Shepherd, manager of the London Designer Outlet, said: “The summer months have been very busy, with guests travelling from near and far to enjoy aspirational and desirable brands at up to 70% off RRP throughout the year.”

Footwear was the retail category with the highest growth, enjoying a 23% increase in retail sales. Some of the shoe brands housed there include Dr Martens, Kurt Geiger, Vans and Converse.

Also with a presence at London Designer Outlet are Next, Jack Wills, Superdry, Gap and H&M.
