Strength of watches market underlined as Omega opens largest franchise boutique
The watches and jewellery markets seem to be going from strength to strength in the UK at present. And now, high-end watch brand Omega has opening its largest franchise boutique in the country on Liverpool One’s upper South John Street.
The timing looks good, considering Liverpool One owner/operator Grosvenor said the addition of Omega coincides with an 18% increase in jewellery sales there since retail reopened on April 12, compared to the pre-pandemic period in 2019.
Created in partnership with franchisee David M Robinson, the new 2,000 sq ft store showcases Omega’s Speedmaster, Constellation, Seamaster and De Ville collections for men and women. It’s also an authorised repair centre.
The boutique features a number of unique elements, including a bar and an innovative changeable lighting system to help create different ambiences in the store.
In another first, the boutique makes use of the brand’s own fragrance in the showroom air-conditioning system. “Multi-sensory merchandising is increasingly important in bricks and mortar retail, adding to the experience and appeal for consumers visiting physical stores”, noted Omega.
John Robinson, managing director at David M Robinson, said: “We are pleased that [Omega has] chosen us as their preferred partner for this project which has created a unique luxury proposition here in the heart of Liverpool One.”
Alison Clegg, managing director, Asset Management, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, added: “The opening of such a significant Omega boutique demonstrates Liverpool One’s continued popularity among leading retail brands for physical stores.
"It is a great addition to [the centre’s] luxury offering and provides even more diversification at the destination. Together with other recent additions, Liverpool One continues to be one of the most in-demand and best-performing destinations in the UK.”
