Stockholm's Royal Palace inspires Tiger of Sweden for SS17

Published

Tiger of Sweden, the Swedish fashion brand that is part of IC Group and recently opened its first menswear-only store in Berlin's Mitte area, continued its menswear focus by showing at London Collections: Men.

Its SS17 collection was inspired by Kungliga Slottet, the Royal Palace, in Stockholm, which was originally based on the baroque opulence of Versailles. But King Karl XII – the reigning monarch of the time - disliked the design and made changes to make it more minimal. This transformation of the palace, from decadent citadel into a temple to Scandinavian restraint, inspired the Tiger of Sweden collection.

It includes Baroque garden-inspired prints, as well as regency-style mourning suits and nylon field jackets.

Tiger of Sweden was also one of the brands participating in St James's Jermyn Street catwalk show, together with labels including New & Lingwood, Turnbull & Asser, Sunspel and John Smedley. Jermyn Street is located in the heart of London's West End, and known for its luxury and heritage menswear brands.

Dylan Jones, editor of GQ and chair of London Collections Men commented: "LCM is one of the most influential moments on the global menswear calendar and it's fabulous we are able to share this with the public on Jermyn Street once again. St James's is the ideal setting with its combination of heritage brands and contemporary fashion labels."
