Hosiery producer and retailer SockShop has introduce its first 100% recycled sock with the launch of its new Tore ( short for totally recycled) brand.

Sockshop

Sockshop said it was created “out of frustration towards the industry and the brand’s core philosophies to protect and nurture the environment”.

Tackling textile wastage and water consumption the new brand has been created “using over 25 years of experience in sock manufacturing”. The result is not only eco-friendly “but also provides unparalleled quality, comfort, durability, fit, and hypoallergenic properties”.

So how eco-friendly are Tore pieces? They’re RCS100 certified (no greenwashing) and one pack of socks claims to save: two years of drinking water; 2.4 plastic water bottles diverted from landfills; and 0.6 t-shirts diverted from landfills.

Commenting on the new launch, Amit Ruia, Sockshop managing director, said: “When we started our sock company 25 years ago, one of our core philosophies was to protect and nurture the environment and we hope Tore embodies this movement. Every single element of our… socks are made from recycled fibres, including recycled cotton and polyester from discarded water bottles. We hope to make small changes to create a better world, sock at a time.”
