US casual and sports footwear giant Skechers is more than doubling the size of its store at Springfields Outlet and Leisure in Spalding, eastern England.

Growing from 2,048 sq ft to 4,241 sq ft, Sketchers cited “the need to satisfy ongoing growth in demand” at the outlet centre.

It further underlines the success of the outlets sector overall as location after location reports strong footfall and sales post-pandemic.

This store is a completely new fit-out “in keeping with Skechers latest designs and will stock many more ranges for all age groups and all seasons.”

It added: “Skechers is trading exceptionally well month after month as it taps into the heart of what people want; comfort and fashion combined”.

Conceived, developed and asset-managed by SLR Outlets for the UBS Triton Property Fund, Springfields' owners said the centre continues to deliver record results across all segments — Fashion, Footwear and Accessories, F&B, Homewares and Jewellery — and is currently trading up 14% versus pre-pandemic. Spend per visitor is up 25%, according to Ian Sanderson, Director of Springfields.

The centre, which also features M&S, Joules, Radley London, Dune London, and Osprey London among its retail portfolio, added: “This year’s ongoing growth sets us up for the opening of Phase 3 next year with its 16 new stores, restaurants and cafés”.
